SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 197
BY SENATOR CHABERT 
A RESOLUTION
To urge and request the Senate Committee on Revenue and Fiscal Affairs to study the
potential benefit of economic tax incentives to vessel owners that purchase boats and
barges built in the state, and for those who domicile their vessel operations/home
base within the state.
WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana wishes to continue to grow a business friendly
environment with the purposes of maintaining resident business owners and attracting out-
of-state business owners into the state; and
WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana wishes to promote the Louisiana ship-building
industry through incentivizing the construction of inland towboats, barges, and other inland
and coastal marine equipment within the state; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of growing Louisiana's business-friendly environment and
incentivizing the construction of inland and coastal marine equipment is done with the
intention of promoting economic growth through business investment and job creation
within the state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
hereby urges and requests that the Senate Committee on Revenue and Fiscal Affairs study
the potential benefit of economic tax incentives to vessel owners that purchase boats and
barges built in the state, and for those who domicile their vessel operations/home base within
the state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the committee shall submit a written report of
its findings, together with any recommendations for legislation, to the Senate no later than
February 1, 2014.
