Authorizes the president of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to pay a per diem during a gubernatorial declared state of emergency to one member of the Select Committee on Homeland Security who is designated by the president to attend the state unified command group meetings. A RESOLUTION1 To authorize the president of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to pay a per diem2 during a gubernatorial declared state of emergency to one member of the Select3 Committee on Homeland Security who is designated by the president to attend the4 state unified command group meetings.5 WHEREAS, during the time of a gubernatorial declared state of emergency it is6 necessary and imperative that the Senate has a member at the state emergency operations7 building or designated emergency area to participate in the meetings of the state unified8 command group and to coordinate the flow of information to other senators; and9 WHEREAS, the legislature has a role of support and emergency support function10 within the state's emergency operations plan; and11 WHEREAS, the director of the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and12 Emergency Preparedness provides a working space for a liaison from each house of the13 legislature on the floor of the state emergency operations center; and 14 WHEREAS, under the Rules of the Senate, the president of the Senate has the power15 to approve all expenditures of the Senate and its members.16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana17 does hereby authorize the president of the Senate to pay a per diem during a gubernatorial18 SR NO. 204 SLS 13RS-559 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 declared state of emergency to one member of the Select Committee on Homeland Security1 who is designated by the president to attend the state unified command group meetings.2 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by J.
