SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 45
BY SENATOR ALARIO 
A RESOLUTION
To recognize April 24, 2013, as National Multiple Sclerosis Society Public Policy
Conference Day at the Capitol and encourage efforts to inform Louisianians about
Multiple Sclerosis and efforts that help bring us closer to a world free of MS.
WHEREAS, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a life-long, unpredictable and often disabling
disease of the central nervous system; and 
WHEREAS, MS affects an estimated 2.5 million people worldwide; three-quarters
of the people with MS are women; most people are diagnosed during the prime-of-life years,
ages 20-50; and 
WHEREAS, a community of Louisianians with the National Multiple Sclerosis
Society are committed to doing something about MS now; they support programs and
services to enhance the lives of people affected by MS, raise funds and awareness through
Bike MS and Walk MS events, and invest in research toward a cure for the disease; and
WHEREAS, today is the 2013 National Multiple Sclerosis Society Public Policy
Conference in Louisiana, a gathering of MS Activists committed to creating positive change
through advocacy for Louisianians affected by MS and other chronic conditions; and
WHEREAS, though much still remains to be done, the work of the National Multiple
Sclerosis Society and the other organizations working on behalf of those with MS are
helping to create a dynamic movement with the ultimate goal of achieving a world free of
MS.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby recognize April 24, 2013, as National Multiple Sclerosis Society Public Policy
Conference Day at the Capitol and encourage efforts to inform Louisianians about MS and
efforts that help bring us closer to a world free of MS. SR NO. 45	ENROLLED

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Louisiana.
