Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 46 BY SENATORS THOMPSON, ADLEY, ALARIO, ALLAIN, AMEDEE, APPEL, BROOME, BROWN, BUFFI NGTON, CHABERT, CL AITOR, CORTEZ, CROWE, DONAHUE, DORSEY-COLOMB, ERDEY, GALLOT, GUILLORY, HEITMEIER, JOHNS, KOSTELKA, LAFLEUR, LONG, MARTINY, MILLS, MORRELL, MORRISH, MURRAY, NEVERS, PEACOCK, PERRY, PETERSON, RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH, TARVER, WALSWORTH, WARD AND WHITE A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate Roy Amedee upon his retirement from both Winn-Dixie and the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Retailers Association. WHEREAS, Roy Amedee was born in Lutcher, Louisiana, and resides in New Orleans, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, in 1942, Roy Amedee married the former Muriel Bossier and they are the proud parents of two sons, Roy Amedee Jr. and Patrick Amedee; and WHEREAS, Roy Amedee is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, in 1947, Roy Amedee began his career with H. G. Hill Stores, which became Winn-Dixie in 1956; and WHEREAS, in 1964, Roy Amedee became active with the Louisiana Retailers Association; and WHEREAS, during his tenure as Director of Community Affairs for Winn-Dixie Louisiana, Roy Amedee established himself as an expert on the grocery industry in the state of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Roy Amedee represented the retail grocery industry through his appointment to numerous boards and commissions, including twenty years of service on the Weights and Measures Commission; and WHEREAS, Roy Amedee leaves not only a legacy of effective leadership as a member of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Retailers Association, but also a legacy of his caring involvement in the retail industry of the state of Louisiana. SR NO. 46 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Roy Amedee upon his retirement from Winn-Dixie and from the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Retailers Association.
