SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 47
BY SENATOR CLAITOR 
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Episcopal High School Knights boys' soccer team upon their Division III
state championship win.
WHEREAS, the Episcopal High School Knights boys' soccer team completed a
sensational season, earning the title of 2012-2013 Division III state champions after
defeating Isidore Newman High School, the top-seeded team, by a score of two to one, in
overtime, to win a thrilling state championship game at Tad Gormley Stadium in New
Orleans, Louisiana, on February 22, 2013; and
WHEREAS, this historic victory was the first Louisiana High School Athletic
Association Division III state title for the Knights boys' team and was the culmination of an
unforgettable season of twenty-two wins, six losses, and one tie (22-6-1); and
WHEREAS, Coach Chris Stewart was named "Coach of the Year" for Division III
and the members of the team performed at a superb level of excellence throughout the
2012-2013 season and playoffs, and each of these great athletes deserves recognition for his
vital contribution to the winning effort; and
WHEREAS, this distinguished team of champions includes Dalton Barrick,
Brannon Bienasz, Trevor Bisson, Alex Castine, Michael Chapman, Adam Clausen,
Austin Couvillion, Garrett Dahm, Gillon Davis, Prentice Ferachi, Austin Guarisco,
Terrell Haughton, Christian Hebert, Christopher Heigle, Carter James, William James,
Polk Kellam, Erol Knaus, Tamer Knaus, Lance LaMotte, Andrew LeBlanc, Justin Leopard,
Bailey Macmurdo, Zach Magee, Cody Mitchell, Clement Mubungirwa, A.J. Ostrowe,
Blaine Perret, Jacob Perret, Noah Ponjuan, Daniel Rieger, Connor Rogstad, Justin Rogstad,
Matthew Wen, Benjamin White, Ty Williams, Austin Wyatt, and Akbar Zamin; and SR NO. 47	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, the Knights team is composed of numerous talented players who
garnered extraordinary division distinctions such as Austin Couvillion as Overall Most
Valuable Player, Adam Clausen as Offensive Most Valuable Player, and include those
members named to the First Team All District; Brannon Bienasz, Adam Clausen,
Austin Couvillion, William James, Erol Knaus, Cody Mitchell, and Clement Mubungirwa;
along with Second Team All District members; Carter James, Polk Kellam, Lance LaMotte,
Zach Magee, and Ty Williams; and
WHEREAS, the Episcopal High School Knights boys' soccer team has among its
number several sets of brothers whose innate abilities have contributed to unsurpassed team
unity and trust; and
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
without the guidance and skill of head coach Chris Stewart along with the assistance of
faculty, boosters, and family members who have contributed their time and effort to the
success of the school's soccer program; and
WHEREAS, the alumni and fans of Episcopal High School recognize the immense
pride and distinguished honor that the boys' soccer team brings to its school, community, and
state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate the Episcopal High School Knights boys' soccer
team upon winning the 2012-2013 Division III state championship and does hereby extend
best wishes to the players, coaches, and all who are involved in this fine athletic program as
they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
soccer coach, Chris Stewart, of Episcopal High School.
