Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 57 BY SENATOR JOHNS A RESOLUTION To commend Helen Lefevre for her commitment and contribution to women's basketball and upon being named the 2012-2013 Class 5A Coach of the Year. WHEREAS, after leading the Sulphur High School Lady Tors to one of their best seasons in program history and a semifinal appearance; and WHEREAS, the Sulphur Lady Tors went 28-4 including a 12-0 run through District 3-5A for their first district title since 2004; and WHEREAS, Coach Lefevre has compiled an impressive 686-273 record in her twenty-nine years of coaching and has no plans of retiring anytime soon; and WHEREAS, she was named coach of the year in 1988 when she led Starks High School to the Class B State Title; and WHEREAS, she spent four years at Starks earning a state title and a runner-up finish and led LaGrange for eight years with one top twenty-eight trip before moving to Sulphur in 1996; and WHEREAS, Coach Lefevre led the Lady Tors to the semifinals both in 1998 and 2013; and WHEREAS, Coach Lefevre deferred the credit of her 5A Coach of the Year honor to her players, school administration and assistant coaches, Carol Tuner and Candice Marcantel; and WHEREAS, under the direction of Coach Lefevre, many high school girls have honed their basketball skills, received mentoring and experienced the fulfilling feeling of victory. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Coach Helen Lefevre for her commitment and contribution to women's basketball and upon being named the 2012-2013 Class 5A Coach of the Year.
