Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 72 BY SENATORS ADLEY, ALARIO, ALLAIN, AMEDEE, APPEL, BROOME, BROWN, BUFFINGTON, CHABERT, CLAI TOR, CORTEZ, CROWE, DONAHUE, DORSEY-COLOMB, ERDEY, GALLOT, GUILLORY, HEITMEIER, JOHNS, KOSTELKA, LAFLEUR, LONG, MARTINY, MILLS, MORRELL, MORRISH , MURRAY, NEVERS, PEACOCK, PERRY, PETERSON, RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH, TARVER, THOMPSON, WALSWORTH, WARD AND WHI TE A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the family of United States Air Force Technical Sergeant Larry Bunn upon his death in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn was a native of Gladewater, Texas, in Gregg County, where he was born in 1969; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn was raised in Big Sandy, Texas, and was a graduate of Harmony High School in Upshur County and later settled in Bossier City, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve in 1987, and received his associate's degree in Aerospace Ground Equipment from the Community College of the Air Force; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn was assigned to the 2 nd Maintenance Munitions Squadron, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, while serving on active duty from 1987 to 1990; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn transitioned in 1990 to the 917 th Wing's Air Force Reserve unit at Barksdale until its deactivation in January 2011 when he decided to remain at Barksdale and received his orders to stay with the Wing under its new designation, the 307 th Bomb Wing; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn was deployed three times in support of operations in southwest Asia, the last duty station being an undisclosed area in Southwest Asia working in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; and SR NO. 72 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn will be mourned forever by his wife, Tammy, and his children, Amber, Lacey, Bryson, Tony, Devon, and Taylor; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn's presence will also be sorely missed by his mother, Lynda, and his father, Gene, but they will be able to cherish the grandchildren he left them and treasure the moments the family spent together; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn accomplished much during his military career and his decorations and awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with five oak leaf clusters, the Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with six oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon, the Air Force Longevity Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" Device, and the Air Force Training Ribbon; and WHEREAS, while the terrible loss borne by his family is unimaginable and heartbreaking, Sergeant Bunn also made his family deeply proud of his brave service to his country and his sacrifices on its behalf. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of United States Air Force Technical Sergeant Larry Bunn upon his death in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the family of U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant Larry Bunn. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
