SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 78
BY SENATOR LAFLEUR 
A RESOLUTION
To commend Hélène Durand, Vice President of the Association France-Louisiane Franco-
Americanie, on being a good will ambassador of the state of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana and many of its citizens have strong cultural and
historical ties to the nation of France; and
WHEREAS, the Association France-Louisiane Franco-Americanie is based in Paris
and was created to promote the development of the French language and culture in the state;
and
WHEREAS, the association has many chapters throughout France and Louisiana
with more than one thousand active members; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Hélène Durand is the current vice president of the association and
for the past twenty years has been one of the most active officers, devoting thousands of
hours to helping Louisiana adults and students travel and study in France; and
WHEREAS, in the 1980s and 1990s she welcomed and housed Louisiana State
University students every summer in her home in Troyes, in the Champagne region of
France, and for the past few years, she has also assisted the director of the Cajun Nights
Festival in Saulieu, France; and
WHEREAS, in addition, Ms. Durand is well-known to the many Louisiana musicians
who have enjoyed her hospitality over the years; and
WHEREAS, because of her tireless devotion to strengthening the bonds of kinship,
culture, history, and friendship between the peoples of the nation of France and the state of
Louisiana, Ms. Durand has earned her place as a good will ambassador of the state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Ms. Hélène Durand, vice president of the Association France-
Louisiane Franco-Americanie, on being a good will ambassador of the state of Louisiana. SR NO. 78	ENROLLED

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Hélène Durand.
