SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 99
BY SENATOR THOMPSON 
SENATE. Designates May 29, 2013, as "4-H Day" at the legislature and commends the
state officers of 4-H.
A RESOLUTION1
To designate May 29, 2013, as "4-H Day" at the legislature and commends the state2
Executive Board officers of 4-H.3
WHEREAS, LSU AgCenter 4-H program participants gain knowledge and life skills4
enabling them to become positive, productive, and compassionate members of their5
communities; and6
WHEREAS, 4-H has three primary program initiatives: citizenship; healthy living;7
and science, engineering and technology; and8
WHEREAS, 4-H youth learn leadership, citizenship and life skills through a variety9
of projects with topics such as outdoor skills, aerospace, animal science, nutrition, forestry10
and community service; and11
WHEREAS, "Learn by doing" is the 4-H club slogan which encourages members to12
make things, take part in club meetings, help their neighbors through club activities, learn13
interesting new things, learn to follow and learn to lead; and14
WHEREAS, the Louisiana 4-H Youth Development program continues to expand15
to meet the needs of youth, with participation exceeding two hundred forty thousand in16
Louisiana; and17
WHEREAS, today over twelve hundred 4-H members and volunteers from all sixty-18 SR NO. 99

four parishes are at the Capitol for the twelfth annual 4-H Day meeting legislators and1
learning about the legislative process.2
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana3
does hereby designate May 29, 2013, as 4-H Day at the legislature and commends the state4
officers of 4-H.5
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana also6
recognizes and commends the 2012-2013 state 4-H Executive Board officers as follows:7
Hailey Johnson, President; Mary Johns, Vice President; Madison Bonsall, Secretary; Peyton8
Arthur, Historian/Reporter; and Brittany Domingue, Parliamentarian.9
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the10
state president of the 4-H Executive Board.11
