COURTS/COURT REPORTERS:  Provides for reciprocity of court reporter certification
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 37:2554.1, relative to court reporters; to authorize the Louisiana Board of2
Examiners of Certified Shorthand Reporters to recognize certain certificates or3
licenses from other states; to provide for qualifications; and to provide for related4
matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 37:2554.1 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง2554.1.  Reciprocity; court reporters8
The board may recognize, grant, or issue any certification or license9
authorized by this Chapter and without examination in this state, to any applicant10
holding a valid certificate or license recognized or issued in another state, provided11
the board determines that the certificate or license in question is based upon an12
examination or other requirements substantially equivalent to or greater than the13
requirements provided by this Chapter and such other requirements as may be14
prescribed by the board in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter. 15 HLS 14RS-631	ORIGINAL

Abstract: Provides for reciprocity for court reporters certified in another state.
Proposed law authorizes the La. Board of Examiners of Certified Shorthand Reporters to
recognize, grant, or issue any certification or license to an applicant holding a valid
certificate or license recognized or issued in another state without an examination in this
state.
Proposed law requires that the certificate or license in question is based upon an examination
or other requirements substantially equivalent to or greater than the requirements provided
by this Chapter and any other requirements prescribed by the board.
