AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 47:463.73(A), (C)(2), and (G), relative to motor vehicle special2
prestige license plates; to provide for the "Academy of the Sacred Heart" special3
prestige license plate; to provide for the "Saint Katharine Drexel Prep" special4
prestige license plate; to provide for the creation, issuance, and design of such5
license plates; to provide relative to the fee and distribution of fees for such plates;6
to authorize the promulgation of rules and regulations; and to provide for related7
matters.8
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:9
Section 1. R.S. 47:463.73(A), (C)(2), and (G) are hereby amended and reenacted to10
read as follows:11
ยง463.73. Special prestige license plate; Louisiana public and private high schools12
A. The secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections shall13
establish a special prestige license plate for the Louisiana parochial, public, and14
private high schools which have a minimum of one hundred applicants for such15
plate. The license plate shall be restricted to passenger cars, pickup trucks, vans, and16
recreational vehicles. The license plate shall be of a color and design selected by the17
respective high school student council subject to the approval of the respective high18
school principal, provided that it is in compliance with R.S. 47:463(A)(3).19

(2) A royalty fee of twenty-five dollars for the use of the institution's design1
by the department shall be paid to the institution for each license plate issued as2
provided in this Section. At the option of any Louisiana parochial, public, or private3
high school, this royalty fee shall be collected annually by the department.4

G. The secretary shall establish special prestige license plates for Archbishop6
Hannan High School, and Jesuit High School, the Academy of the Sacred Heart,7
Saint Katharine Drexel Preparatory School, and any other parochial, public or private8
Louisiana high school in accordance with the provisions of this Section as it was9
enacted.10
