Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE BILL NO. 134 BY REPRESENTATIVE BADON MTR VEHICLE/DRIVER LIC: Authorizes placement of an "Honorable Discharge" designation on the drivers' licenses of certain individuals AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 32:412(M) and R.S. 40:1321(M), relative to drivers' licenses and special2 identification cards; to authorize the designation of "Honorable Discharge" on3 drivers' licenses and special identification cards under certain circumstances; to4 authorize the promulgation of administrative rules; and to provide for related5 matters.6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7 Section 1. R.S. 32:412(M) is hereby enacted to read as follows:8 §412. Amount of fees; credit or refund; duration of license; veteran designation; "I'm9 a Cajun" designation; disbursement of funds; renewal by mail or electronic10 commerce of Class "D" or "E" drivers' licenses; disposition of certain fees;11 exception12 * * *13 M. Upon request, the words "Honorable Discharge" shall be exhibited in the14 color black below the person's photograph on the driver's license, regardless of its15 class, upon presentation of a copy of the person's DD Form 214, Discharge Papers16 and Veterans Separation Documents, issued by the United States Department of17 Defense, or equivalent, as established by administrative rule. No additional fee shall18 be charged to include such designation. The deputy secretary of the Department of Public1 Safety and Corrections, public safety services, shall establish rules and regulations2 as are necessary to implement the provisions of this Subsection.3 Section 2. R.S. 40:1321(M) is hereby enacted to read as follows:4 §1321. Special identification cards; issuance; veteran designation; "I'm a Cajun"5 designation; fees; expiration and renewal; exceptions; promulgation of rules;6 promotion of use; persons less than twenty-one years of age; the Protect and7 Serve our Children Program; Selective Services Registration8 * * *9 M.
