WILDLIFE & FISHERIES: Provides for reduced hunting and fishing license fees for
Louisiana residents who are retired from the U.S. Armed Forces
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 56:302.2(B) and to enact R.S. 56:104(B)(1), relative to fees for2
hunting and fishing licenses; to exempt from payment of such fees Louisiana natives3
who are retired from the United States Armed Forces; and to provide for related4
matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 56:302.2(B) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S. 56:104(B)(1)7
is hereby enacted to read as follows:8
§104.  License fees; reciprocity; exceptions9

B.(1) Any person who was born in Louisiana and who possesses a valid11
Louisiana birth certificate and who is retired from the United States Armed Forces,12
the Louisiana Army National Guard, or the Louisiana Air National Guard, upon13
showing identification and proof of military service satisfactory to the department,14
shall be issued hunting licenses and permits without the payment of any fees15
therefor.16

B. The following recreational fishermen, upon showing identification and1
proof of disability documentation satisfactory to the department, shall be issued a2
basic recreational fishing license and saltwater license without payment of any fees:3
(1) A resident who is a veteran of the armed forces United States Armed4
Forces, the Louisiana Army National Guard, or the Louisiana Air National Guard,5
having a permanent service connected disability classification of fifty percent or6
more; .7
(2)  A resident who is blind, paraplegic, or is a single or multiple amputee,8
or is required to use one or more artificial limbs or permanent braces for mobility as9
a result of a permanent and total disability.10
(3) Any person who was born in Louisiana and who possesses a valid11
Louisiana birth certificate and who is retired from the United States Armed Forces,12
the Louisiana Army National Guard, or the Louisiana Air National Guard.13

Abstract: Authorizes the issuance of hunting and fishing licenses for no charge to native
Louisianians retired from the military.
Present law provides for certain fees to be charged for various hunting and fishing licenses.
Proposed law would allow issuance of hunting and fishing licenses at no charge to any
person who was born in La. and who possesses a valid La. birth certificate and who is retired
from the United States Armed Forces, the La. Army National Guard, or the La. Air National
Guard.
