Thibaut (HB 144) Act No. 28
New law authorizes the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board to exchange immovable
property, including 16th section lands and indemnity lands, for other land in West Baton
Rouge Parish. Requires the school board to obtain an appraisal of the lands and requires that
such appraisal be available for public inspection. Requires that the land to be received by
the school board be of equal or greater value than the exchanged land. Provides that the
school board shall reserve all mineral rights to the state.
Effective Aug. 1, 2014.
