AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 13:5554(G)(3), relative to the payment of group insurance premium costs; to2
provide for eligibility for payment of such costs for retired sheriffs and retired deputy3
sheriffs of the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office; and to provide for related4
matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 13:5554(G)(3) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7

(3) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, in the12
parish of West Baton Rouge, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group13
hospital, surgical, medical expense and insurance and the first ten thousand dollars14
of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in15
full from the sheriff's general fund for any sheriff and full-time deputy sheriff who16
has retired from the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office and who is entitled to17
receive monthly benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund and who has18
either of the following:19
(a) At least twelve years of full-time creditable service with the West Baton20
Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office and who was hired before June 30, 2008, and is at least21
fifty-five years of age.22
(b) At least thirty years of full-time service with the West Baton Rouge23
Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.24 ENROLLEDHB NO. 221

(c) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection shall apply for any1
sheriff, deputy sheriff, and all persons hired by the West Baton Rouge Parish2
Sheriff's Office on or after July 1, 2008.3
