AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 15:542.1.4(A)(1), relative to sex offender registration and2
notification requirements; to provide relative to the crime of failure to register and3
notify as a sex offender or child predator; to amend the crime of failure to register4
and notify as a sex offender or child predator to include untimely actions; and to5
provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. R.S. 15:542.1.4(A)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as8
follows: 9
ยง542.1.4. Failure to register and notify as a sex offender or child predator; penalties10
A.(1) A person who fails to timely register, fails to timely provide any11
information required by the provisions of this Chapter, fails to timely and12
periodically renew and update registration as required by the provisions of this13
Chapter, fails to timely provide proof of residence, fails to timely provide or14
notification of change of address or other registration information, or fails to provide15
community notification as required by the provisions of this Chapter, and a person16
who knowingly provides false information to a law enforcement agency as provided17
in R.S. 15:542(C)(3), shall, upon first conviction, be fined not more than one18 ENROLLEDHB NO. 638

thousand dollars and imprisoned with hard labor for not less than two years nor more1
than ten years without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.2
