AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 23:633(B), relative to the payment of wages; to require that2
certain employees be paid no less than twice monthly; to provide with respect to3
payment deadlines; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 23:633(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6
ยง633.  Payment twice monthly for certain occupations; penalty for violations7

B. Every person, engaged in manufacturing of any kind, or engaged in9
boring for oil and in mining operations, employing ten or more employees, and every10
public service corporation, shall make full payment to employees for services11
performed as often as once every two weeks or no less than twice during each12
calendar month, which paydays shall be two weeks apart as near as is practicable,13
and such payment or settlement shall include all amounts due for labor or services14
performed up to not more than ten days previous to the time of payment, except that15
public service corporations shall not be required to make payment for labor or16
services performed up to more than fifteen days prior to the time of payment during17
any such payroll period and shall be payable no later than the payday at the18 ENROLLEDHB NO. 689

conclusion of the next payroll period, provided that, except in cases of public service1
corporations, this Section shall not apply to the clerical force or to salesmen.2
