AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 17:158.2(D) and (E), relative to the model age of school buses; to prohibit school2
buses used to transport students from being more than twenty-five years old; to require that3
activity or backup school buses be fifteen or fewer model years old; to prohibit school buses4
older than fifteen model years from being used more than sixty consecutive school days in5
a school year; and to provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1.  R.S. 17:158.2(D) and (E) are hereby enacted to read as follows:8
ยง158.2.  Purchase of school buses; resale to bus operators9

D. Any school bus used to transport students, including an activity or backup  bus,11
shall not be more than twenty-five years old. Any school bus  used as an activity or backup12
bus, at the time it is acquired by the owner and placed in service, shall be fifteen or fewer13
model years old. The number of years shall be reckoned from the date of introduction of the14
model year.15
E. Any school bus used as an activity or backup bus that is older than fifteen model16
years shall not be used more than sixty consecutive school days in a school year.17
