APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT: Appropriates funds for payment of judgment in the
matter of "Murphy Cormier General Contractor, Inc. v. State of Louisiana
Department of Health and Hospitals, et al"
AN ACT1
To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2014-2
2015 to be used to pay the judgment in the suit entitled "Murphy Cormier General3
Contractor, Inc. v. State of Louisiana, Department of Health and Hospitals, et al"; to4
provide for interest; to provide for costs and attorney fees; and to provide for related5
matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. The sum of Seven Million Four Hundred Twelve Thousand Three8
Hundred Eighty-Three and No/100 ($7,412,383.00) Dollars, plus legal interest from July9
19, 2007 until paid, plus costs in the amount of One Hundred Ten Thousand Five Hundred10
Seventy-Eight and 31/100 ($110,578.31) Dollars, plus legal interest from December 20,11
2011 until paid, plus Third Circuit Court of Appeal costs in the amount of Sixty-Six12
Thousand Three Hundred Sixty-Two and 45/100 ($66,362.45) Dollars, are hereby13
appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2014-2015 to14
be used to pay the judgment in the suit entitled "Murphy Cormier General Contractor, Inc.15
v. State of Louisiana, Department of Health and Hospitals, et al", bearing Number 2007-16
3828, Division "H", on the docket of the Fourteenth Judicial District Court, parish of17
Calcasieu, state of Louisiana; No. 12-1000 on the docket of the Third Circuit Court of18
Appeal, state of Louisiana; and No. 2013-C-1491 on the docket of the Supreme Court of the19

Section 2. The judgment provided for in Section 1 hereof shall be deemed to have1
been paid on the effective date of this Act and legal interest shall cease to run as of that date.2
Section 3. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2014; if vetoed by the governor3
and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,4
2014, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later. 5
