SUPPLEMENTAL PAY: Increases the number of authorized Tunica-Biloxi tribal officers
eligible for supplemental pay
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 33:2218.2(F)(2), relative to state supplemental pay for certain2
law enforcement officers; to increase the number of tribal officers of the Tunica-3
Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana eligible for such pay; to provide for retroactivity; to4
provide for an effective date; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 33:2218.2(F)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:7

(2) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the13
compensation for tribal officers of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana shall be for14
no more than thirteen twenty such law enforcement officers.15

Section 2.(A) This Act is declared to be remedial and curative and therefore is to be17
applied retroactively as well as prospectively.18 HLS 14RS-131	ORIGINAL

(B) The board of review, established in R.S. 33:2218.7, may certify back pay for any1
tribal officers of the Tunica-Biloxi officers who had received supplemental pay prior to June2
30, 2013, and were removed as of that date.3
Section 3. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2014; if vetoed by the governor4
and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,5
2014, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.6

Abstract: Increases the number of Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana officers eligible for
state supplemental pay 	from 13 to 20.
Present law provides that every police officer employed by a municipality or certain tribe
who works full-time on law enforcement, and, if hired after March 31, 1986, is P.O.S.T.-
certified, shall be eligible for supplemental pay from the state in the amount of $500 per
month. 
Present law limits the number of tribal officers of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana
eligible for state supplemental pay to no more than 13 such law enforcement officers.
Proposed law increases the maximum number from 13 to 20 such law enforcement officers.
Proposed law specifies the provisions of proposed law are remedial and curative and to be
applied retroactively and prospectively.  Authorizes the board of review to certify back pay
for any tribal officers of the Tunica-Biloxi officers who had received supplemental pay prior
to June 30, 2013, and were removed as of that date.
Effective on July 1, 2014.
