ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 130 BY REPRESENTATIVES CARTER AND LORUSSO A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend the LSU women's gymnastics team for an outstanding 2014 season. WHEREAS, in the 2014 season, the LSU women's gymnastics team had the best finish in school history and took third place in the NCAA Super Six Finals; and WHEREAS, the team reached the Super Six for the second consecutive season and the fourth time overall and broke the LSU record for highest score on three occasions; and WHEREAS, the women's gymnastics team earned a 198.325 and tied for the highest score in the nation this season, winning their thirteenth regional title in the program's history at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional; and WHEREAS, the team broke the record for the most consecutive meets with at least a 197 score and ended the year as the only team in the nation to score a 49.0 or higher in every event in every meet this season; and WHEREAS, the LSU women's gymnastics team was ranked No.1 for three straight weeks at the beginning of the Regional Qualifying Score rankings in late February and earned twenty total All-American honors as a team, the second highest number of any team; and WHEREAS, the team led the nation with five gymnasts as First Team All-Americans at the NCAA Championships, and no other team had more than four gymnasts earn the distinction; and WHEREAS, Rheagan Courville captured the second NCAA individual national title of her career on vault, and it marked the tenth NCAA individual title overall in LSU history and the eighth in the last nine seasons; and WHEREAS, Lloimincia Hall set two school records becoming the first LSU gymnast to win three straight Southeastern Conference floor exercise titles and tallying three perfect 10.0s on floor to reach five for her career, the most 10.0s on floor in LSU history; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 130 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, Sarie Morrison ended her career with the most uneven bar titles by a gymnast in LSU history with twenty-eight; and WHEREAS, a school record eight gymnasts earned All-American Honors this season, including Kaleigh Dickson, Sydney Ewing, Ashleigh Gnat, Lloimincia Hall, Jessie Jordan, Sarie Morrison, and Jessica Savona; and WHEREAS, Courville, Ewing, Gnat, Jordan, and Savona all tallied First Team All- American Honors at the NCAA Championships, the first time in LSU history that five gymnasts claimed first team honors at nationals in the same season, and Courville, Dickson, and Jordan all finished as All-Americans in all-around, the first time three Tigers have earned all-around All-American distinction in the same season. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the LSU women's gymnastic team for an outstanding 2014 season.
