HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 176
BY REPRESENTATIVE FANNIN AND SENATOR GALLOT
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend Travis Taylor of Winn Parish for his many achievements and contributions to
the logging industry.
WHEREAS, Travis Taylor, a native and current resident of Winn Parish, is a leading
force in the logging industry on the local, state, and national level and is the first Louisianian
to serve as president of the American Logging Council; and
WHEREAS, with humble beginnings as a teenager harvesting short pulpwood by
hand, Travis Taylor earned a degree in forestry from Louisiana Tech University and
eventually became a successful logging contractor with state-of-the-art logging equipment
such as the cut-to-length harvester and in-woods whole tree chipper; and
WHEREAS, an innovator of logging methods, Travis Taylor embraces the
Sustainable Forestry Initiative and its Best Management Programs to ensure sustainable
forests for future generations; and
WHEREAS, to address his fellow "log-haulers" business needs, Travis Taylor
founded the Southern Loggers Cooperative and Wood Products Development Foundation,
and served on the board of directors of The Timbermen's Self-Insurance Fund which
currently provides services to logging contractors in ten states; and
WHEREAS, Travis Taylor has been recognized as "Louisiana Logger of the Year"
and President of the Louisiana Logging Council; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor has also been recognized by the Louisiana Forestry
Association for his numerous contributions to the industry in Louisiana and has been
recognized nationally for his positive impact in United States Forest Service harvesting

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
recognize, commend, and salute Travis Taylor of Winn Parish for his many achievements
and contributions to the Louisiana logging industry, his leadership among his peers within
the industry, his friendship to all who know him, and the courageous fight he has waged
against cancer, bolstered by the prayers and support of his friends and his faith.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Travis Taylor.
