HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 186
BY REPRESENTATIVE JEFFERSON AND SENATOR GALLOT
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend the New Living Word School boys' track and field team upon winning the
2014 Class C state championship.
WHEREAS, the New Living Word School track and field team completed a
sensational season when they earned the title of 2014 Class C state champions with a
thrilling score of one hundred twenty-two points; and
WHEREAS, Rontravion Bryant took first place in the high jump event and placed
first in 400 meter dash with a time of 59.81 seconds; and
WHEREAS, Fredrion "Fred" Evans placed first in three events, including the long
jump, the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.49 seconds, and the 200 meter dash with a time
of 23.37 seconds; and
WHEREAS, LaTario Davis placed third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2
minutes and 13.59 seconds; Kwantavious Harris took first place in the triple jump event;
Alijwon "Lee" Mason placed third in the long jump; Xavious Williams placed third in the
shot put event; Jeremy Patton placed fifth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.45
seconds; and Rashaan Proctor took second place in the triple jump event and placed fourth
in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.15 seconds; and
WHEREAS, Fred Evans, Kwantavious Harris, Lee Mason, and Jeremy Patton placed
first in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 45.70 seconds; and
WHEREAS, Fred Evans, Kwantavious Harris, Lee Mason, and Justin Onwuzulike
placed first in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1 minute and 34.43 seconds; and
WHEREAS, Rontravion Bryant, Lee Mason, Jeremy Patton, and Rashaan Proctor
placed first in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3 minutes and 40.27 seconds; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 186

WHEREAS, all members of the New Living Word School track and field team
performed at the highest level of excellence throughout the 2014 season, and each of these
great Lions deserves recognition for his vital contribution to the winning effort; and 
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of this team could not have been
achieved without the guidance and skills of head coach Willie Richardson, assistant coaches
Kevin Jackson, Antarian Griffin, and LaWanda Wright, and all of the other individuals who
have contributed to the success of the school's track and field program; and
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season continues the Lions' winning tradition,
and all New Living Word School fans recognize the immense pride and distinguished honor
that the team brings to its school, community, and state. 
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the New Living Word School boys' track and field team upon winning the 2014
Class C state championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and
everyone involved with this fine track and field program as they celebrate their exceptional
season and prepare for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to head coach, Willie Richardson.
