HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 68

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS: Recognizes the contributions of the Republic of Azerbaijan
and the importance of promoting and fostering relationships with the people of
Azerbaijan
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To recognize the many contributions of the Republic of Azerbaijan and to recognize that it2
is in the best interest of Louisiana to foster and promote relationships with the people3
of Azerbaijan.4
WHEREAS, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United States of America are5
long-standing allies; and6
WHEREAS, the United States established diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan in7
1992, and the United States and Azerbaijan have a bilateral trade agreement and a bilateral8
investment treaty; and9
WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana and the Republic of Azerbaijan enjoy a strong and10
mutually beneficial economic relationship with the prospect of further growth; and11
WHEREAS, it is the custom of the state of Louisiana to welcome all who come to12
this state, especially those who come in the interest of friendship and commerce; and13
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the contributions of Louisiana's allies and14
the value of maintaining beneficial relationships with them, such as the contributions made15
by the Republic of Azerbaijan and the value of the state's positive relationship with this ally.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby17
recognize the contributions of the Republic of Azerbaijan and does hereby recognize that it18
is in the best interest of Louisiana to foster and promote relationships with the people of19

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be sent to the speaker1
of the United States House of Representatives, the president of the United States Senate, the2
United States Department of State, the Louisiana congressional delegation, and Richard L.3
Morningstar, the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan.4
