SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes Wednesday, April 23, 2014, as YMCA Day
in Louisiana
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To recognize Wednesday, April 23, 2014, as YMCA Day in Louisiana.2
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the volunteers and members of the3
Louisiana YMCA and to recognize Wednesday, April 23, 2014, as YMCA Day in Louisiana;4
and5
WHEREAS, one of the YMCA's core commitment's is to nurture the potential of6
kids, promote healthy living, and foster a sense of social responsibility; and7
WHEREAS, the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility8
unite volunteers and members as a movement and guide individuals' behavior, interactions9
with each other, and decision making; and 10
WHEREAS, more than one hundred thousand children and adults throughout the11
state have access to the essentials necessary to learn, grow and thrive; and 12
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs support the development of integrated, community-13
based strategies for serving children and families; and 14
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs stand ready to support state government efforts to15
provide developmental programs for youth, strengthen families, and mobilize and coordinate16
broad efforts to support children and families through partnerships that meet community17
needs; and 18
WHEREAS, on April 23, 2014, representatives of Louisiana's YMCAs will meet in19
the Louisiana State Capitol with their representatives and senators to discuss and exchange20

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby1
recognize Wednesday, April 23, 2014, as YMCA Day in Louisiana and does hereby2
commend the members and volunteers of Louisiana's YMCAs for their dedication to3
families throughout the state.4
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted5
to the chairman of the Louisiana Statewide Alliance of YMCAs.6
