ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 118 BY REPRESENTATIVES BERTHELOT AND ADAMS A RESOLUTION To express the condolences of the Louisiana House of Representatives upon the death of Rosie Guidry Harris of Gretna and to recognize and record her contributions to her community and state. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives learned of the death of Rosie Guidry Harris of Gretna on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the age of ninety-four; and WHEREAS, Rosie Guidry Harris, a native of Cut Off, Louisiana, was a resident of Gretna; she was the beloved wife of the late Clyde A. Harris, Sr., by first marriage and the late Ray A. Gremillion, Sr., by second marriage; and WHEREAS, Rosie Guidry Harris was an active member of her community and devoted to her loving family; and WHEREAS, Rosie Guidry Harris's passion for her children, family, and the French language will forever be remembered because she was a woman who influenced others by her dynamic spirit; and WHEREAS, Ms. Harris was humbled to be chosen as an "unofficial" interpreter during World War II in France; and WHEREAS, Rosie Guidry Harris founded a West Bank chapter of Les Amis du CODOFIL in her living room in 1979; she continued to teach a French immersion class, even into her 90s; and WHEREAS, in 2002, Ms. Harris was presented the Prix de Louisiane for her work during a French Mass at St. Louis Cathedral in celebration of Bastille Day; and WHEREAS, Rosie Guidry Harris was a member of the Twilight Garden Club, Timberlane Garden Club, Gretna Historical Society, and St. Joseph and St. Cletus Catholic churches; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 118 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives wish to recognize Mrs. Harris for her numerous contributions to Gretna, Louisiana, and especially wish to convey their deepest sympathy to her family: her loving children, Kathleen Harris Little, Clyde A. "Skip" Harris, Jr., and Ronnie C. Harris; her brother, Robert F. Guidry; her grandchildren, Laura, David, Andrew, Emily, and William; and her great-grandchildren, Isla, Taylor, Collin, Lucas, Trace, Noah, and Lance. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express its sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of Rosie Guidry Harris.
