COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the Cedar Creek School girls' softball team upon
winning the 2014 Class 1A state championship
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the Cedar Creek School girls' softball team upon winning the 2014 Class 1A2
state championship title and to congratulate the Lady Cougars on an outstanding3
2013-2014 season.4
WHEREAS, the Cedar Creek School girls' softball team captured the 2014 Class 1A5
title in a 6-0 victory over the Ascension Catholic Bulldogs at the Louisiana High School6
Athletic Association's Fast Pitch 56 state championship softball tournament; which was its7
first state title since 1994; and8
WHEREAS, the Cedar Creek School girls' softball team became the lowest-seed in9
the history of Class 1A to win a state championship; and10
WHEREAS, Head Coach Julie Riser and assistant coaches Gloria Riser, Lauren11
Kirkland, Krista Howard, and Rachel Marcus have given the players the necessary skills to12
become great softball players and outstanding members in their community by13
demonstrating motivational leadership to produce winners on or off the field; and14
WHEREAS, each of the following Lady Cougars performed at the highest level of15
excellence throughout the season and playoffs and deserves recognition for her vital16
contributions to the winning effort; Cecilia Akin, Nicole Brasher, Logan Brown, Kateline17
Cooper, Haley Gray, Mary Julia Klug, Christin Moore, Sydney Moore, Elizabeth Kate18
Pardue, Caley Pyles, Hallie Rambin, Anna Larr Roberson, Halie Robinson, Harlie Robinson,19
Marry Terral, Gabbie Turner, and Lauren Wade; and20 HLS 14RS-4777	ORIGINAL

WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the Lady1
Cougars, and all Cedar Creek School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and2
distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state.3
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the4
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Cedar Creek School girls' softball team5
upon winning the 2014 Class 1A state championship and does hereby extend best wishes to6
the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine softball program as they celebrate7
their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.8
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted9
to Head Coach Julie Riser.10
