HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 157
BY REPRESENTATIVES STUART BISHOP, BARRAS, NANCY LANDRY, TERRY
LANDRY, MONTOUCET, ORTEGO, PI ERRE, AND ROBIDEAUX
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the St. Thomas More High School girls' tennis team upon winning the 20142
Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 4A state championship.3
WHEREAS, the St. Thomas More High School girls' tennis team fiercely competed4
at the regional and state levels and finished the season with an exceptional overall record of5
15-2; and6
WHEREAS, the Lady Cougars won the 2014 Class 4A girls' tennis team7
championship, which was the first team title win since 2009; and8
WHEREAS, the members of the team include:  Ashlynn Baquet, Georgia Clark,9
Caroline Cryer, Anne-Marie Fruge, Caroline Fruge, Madeline Haydel, Sarah Maraist,10
Camille Mayard, Caroline Meyers, Elizabeth Mitchell, Mallory Morrow, Carla Ortega,11
Daniella Ortega, Caroline Poehler, Lane Stagg, and Alex Trahan; and12
WHEREAS, in addition to the state team championship, the doubles team of Caroline13
Poehler and Daniela Ortega were state quarter-finalists, the doubles team of Caroline Meyers14
and Carla Ortega were regional champions and upset the top-seeded team to win the state15
doubles championship, and senior team member Caroline Fruge won the regional and state16
singles championship and finished the season with a 15-0 record; and17
WHEREAS, all of the team members performed at the highest level of excellence18
throughout the 2014 season, and each of these young ladies deserves recognition for her vital19
contributions to the winning effort; and20
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved21
without the guidance and skills of Head Tennis Coach Chad Hebert; and22 ENROLLEDHR NO. 157

WHEREAS, through its display of good sportsmanship and dedication to excellence,1
the St. Thomas More High School girls' tennis team has brought a tremendous sense of2
honor and pride to its school and community and upholds the glorious tradition of the3
Cougars.4
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the5
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the St. Thomas More High School girls'6
tennis team upon winning the 2014 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 4A7
state championship and does hereby congratulate the players, coaches, and everyone8
involved with this fine tennis program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare9
for continued success in the future.10
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted11
to Head Tennis Coach Chad Hebert and the St. Thomas More High School girls' tennis team.12
