A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Joseph
"Mickey" Lloyd Frith, and to express enduring gratitude for his outstanding
contributions to the state of Louisiana, particularly during his tenure as a
distinguished member of the Louisiana House of Representatives.
WHEREAS, Joseph "Mickey" Lloyd Frith was born on October 20, 1942, to Lloyd
Frith, Sr., and the former Gelta Trahan; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Frith was a 1960 graduate of Ernest Broussard High School,
received a bachelor of arts degree in education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette,
and received a master of education degree from McNeese State University; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Frith's career included serving as a schoolteacher and assistant
principal at E. Broussard High School from 1964 to 1988, and serving as principal of
Maltrait Memorial Catholic School from 1988 to 1990; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Frith was also a restauranteur, opening several restaurants in his
community; and
WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Mr. Frith served as a 4-H club
leader for twenty-five years, a Boy Scout leader, and a volunteer coach of the Vermilion
Parish football league, Kaplan Minor League, Little League, and Babe Ruth League; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 160

WHEREAS, Mr. Frith devoted years of his life to the citizens of Cameron Parish and
Vermilion Parish by serving as the representative of District 47 in the Louisiana House of
Representatives where he served from 1996 to 2008; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Frith served as a proud member of the Democratic Caucus,
chairman of the Acadiana Delegation, vice chairman of the Rural Caucus, a member of the
House committees on agriculture, forestry, aquaculture and rural development, commerce,
and natural resources, the House Special Committee on Coastal Restoration and Flood
Control, the Steering Subcommittee of the House Special Committee on Disaster Planning,
and the House Special Committee on Disaster Planning, Crisis Management, Recovery and
Long-Term Revitalization; and 
WHEREAS, during his time in the House of Representatives, Representative Frith
has worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation, focusing primarily on
rural issues; and
WHEREAS, Representative Frith's professional, civic, and business affiliations have
included the Kaplan Chamber of Commerce, the Louisiana Association of Educators, the
National Education Association, the American Association of Retired Persons, the Vermilion
Parish Farm Bureau, the Louisiana Cattlemen's Association, the Teen Pregnancy Task Force,
and the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Frith is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-two years, Millie
Gaspard Frith; three sons, Brent Frith and wife, Arieal, Clint Frith and wife, Trisha, and
Trent Frith and wife, Katie; one sister, Diana "Dee" and husband, Albert; and eight
grandchildren, Blake, Cory, Scott, Hunter, Averi, Katie, Kelli, and Karli; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Frith will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father,
grandfather, friend, and public servant who loved his community and treasured his family;
and
WHEREAS, the death of Joseph "Mickey" Lloyd Frith has left a great void and
created a general sense of sorrow in all who knew him, including the members of his
legislative family.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
death of former state representative Joseph "Mickey" Lloyd Frith and does hereby record for ENROLLEDHR NO. 160

posterity the enduring appreciation of the citizens of Louisiana for his outstanding
contributions and achievements, particularly during his tenure as a distinguished member
of the Louisiana House of Representatives.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of Joseph "Mickey" Lloyd Frith.
