HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 169
BY REPRESENTATIVE GUINN
A RESOLUTION
To commend the organizers and participants of the 2014 National Corvette Caravan and
welcome them to Louisiana.
WHEREAS, the first generation of the Corvette was released in 1953; the car quickly
became emblematic of American precision and design, and after more than sixty years on
the market the Corvette has maintained its rightful place as one of the most extraordinary
feats of American innovation; and
WHEREAS, there are many ways for owners of this unique example of Americana
to show their Corvette pride, but few more spectacular than when thousands of Corvettes
from all over the country make the pilgrimage to Bowling Green, Kentucky, for the National
Corvette Caravan; and
WHEREAS, it is a journey, an exodus, an adventure, and, in a way, a cause that
shows the world the passion that drives Corvette owners and the unique bond that brings
them together from the farthest reaches of the continent and even beyond that and other
countries; Corvettes from every generation begin their quest, joining with other cars along
the way, forming spontaneous parades that sometimes stretch for miles that finally converge
on the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green; and
WHEREAS, stops are often planned along the way to make the drive even more fun;
stopping at attractions to become attractions themselves where the public can witness this
legendary automotive phenomenon; and
WHEREAS, the 2014 National Corvette Caravan, the ultimate expression of that
unique loyalty that belongs to Corvette owners, will stop in Jennings, Louisiana, on August
23, 2014, before continuing their journey to the 20th Anniversary Celebration for the
National Corvette Museum. ENROLLEDHR NO. 169
