HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 207
BY REPRESENTATIVE BARROW
STATE AGENCIES: Directs each state agency to notify members of the House of
Representatives no later than five days prior to any action by the agency which
results in the termination of one hundred or more state employees or which results
in a change of the parish in which one hundred or more state employees report to
work
A RESOLUTION1
To direct each state agency to notify the members of the House of Representatives2
regarding any action by the agency which would result in the termination of one3
hundred or more state employees or which would result in a change of the parish in4
which one hundred or more state employees report to work, no later than five days5
prior to the action.6
WHEREAS, an increasing number of classified state employees are being placed in7
a position where their jobs are being privatized, resulting in a loss of state employment; and8
WHEREAS, a large number of classified employees have had their jobs relocated9
to another parish more than fifty miles from the previous work location, and their jobs are10
either eliminated or have been moved to a location where the employees may find it difficult11
or impossible to relocate in a short period of time; and12
WHEREAS, the loss or relocation of one hundred or more jobs leads to many13
questions and upheaval in a community; and14
WHEREAS, in such a situation, it is important that the leaders and representatives15
of the community be notified and prepared to assist their constituents with the transitions and16
adjustments required by an action by a state agency that so deeply affects their community17

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the1
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby direct each state agency to notify the members of the2
House of Representatives regarding any action by the agency which would result in the3
termination of one hundred or more  state employees or which would result in a change of4
the parish in which one hundred or more state employees report to work, no later than five5
days prior to the action.6
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that for purposes of this Resolution, the term "state7
agency" shall mean any board, commission, department, division, agency, office, or other8
entity within the executive branch of state government.9
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the10
executive head of each department or equivalent in the executive branch of state government11
and to the commissioner of the division of administration.12
