HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 207

A RESOLUTION
To direct each state agency to notify the members of the House of Representatives
regarding any action by the agency which would result in the termination of one
hundred or more state employees or which would result in a change of the parish in
which one hundred or more state employees report to work, no later than five days
prior to the action.
WHEREAS, an increasing number of classified state employees are being placed in
a position where their jobs are being privatized, resulting in a loss of state employment; and
WHEREAS, a large number of classified employees have had their jobs relocated
to another parish more than fifty miles from the previous work location, and their jobs are
either eliminated or have been moved to a location where the employees may find it difficult
or impossible to relocate in a short period of time; and
WHEREAS, the loss or relocation of one hundred or more jobs leads to many
questions and upheaval in a community; and
WHEREAS, in such a situation, it is important that the leaders and representatives
of the community be notified and prepared to assist their constituents with the transitions and
adjustments required by an action by a state agency that so deeply affects their community
and their constituents in all aspects of their lives.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby direct each state agency to notify the members of the
House of Representatives regarding any action by the agency which would result in the
termination of one hundred or more  state employees or which would result in a change of
the parish in which one hundred or more state employees report to work, no later than five
days prior to the action. ENROLLEDHR NO. 207

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that for purposes of this Resolution, the term "state
agency" shall mean any board, commission, department, division, agency, office, or other
entity within the executive branch of state government.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the
executive head of each department or equivalent in the executive branch of state government
and to the commissioner of the division of administration.
