CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the deaths caused by the worst flooding in
Bosnia and Herzegovina in recorded history
A RESOLUTION1
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of more than2
forty people in the worst flooding in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina.3
WHEREAS, on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, Bosnia and Herzegovina faced the worst4
flooding in a century that devastated the country; three months worth of rain fell in the5
region over three days, creating the worst flooding since record keeping began one hundred6
years ago; and7
WHEREAS, over a quarter of Bosnia and Herzegovina's four million people are8
without clean water and hundreds of thousands have been forced from their homes; the rains9
have brought not only flooding, but also landslides; and10
WHEREAS, though the rain has stopped, the force of the raging flood waters has11
caused horrific destruction leaving a third of Bosnia and Herzegovina under water and has12
caused much pain and suffering across the region.13
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the14
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere condolences and extends deepest15
sympathies to the families as they mourn the absence of their loved ones who died in the16
worst flooding in the recorded history of Bosnia and Herzegovina and does hereby share in17
the grief and sorrow of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina.18
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted19
