HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 208
BY REPRESENTATIVE BURRELL
A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of more than
forty people in the worst flooding in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
WHEREAS, on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, Bosnia and Herzegovina faced the worst
flooding in a century that devastated the country; three months worth of rain fell in the
region over three days, creating the worst flooding since record keeping began one hundred
years ago; and
WHEREAS, over a quarter of Bosnia and Herzegovina's four million people are
without clean water and hundreds of thousands have been forced from their homes; the rains
have brought not only flooding, but also landslides; and
WHEREAS, though the rain has stopped, the force of the raging flood waters has
caused horrific destruction leaving a third of Bosnia and Herzegovina under water and has
caused much pain and suffering across the region.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere condolences and extends deepest
sympathies to the families as they mourn the absence of their loved ones who died in the
worst flooding in the recorded history of Bosnia and Herzegovina and does hereby share in
the grief and sorrow of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians.
