ENROLLED Page 1 of 1 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 208 BY REPRESENTATIVE BURRELL A RESOLUTION To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of more than forty people in the worst flooding in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. WHEREAS, on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, Bosnia and Herzegovina faced the worst flooding in a century that devastated the country; three months worth of rain fell in the region over three days, creating the worst flooding since record keeping began one hundred years ago; and WHEREAS, over a quarter of Bosnia and Herzegovina's four million people are without clean water and hundreds of thousands have been forced from their homes; the rains have brought not only flooding, but also landslides; and WHEREAS, though the rain has stopped, the force of the raging flood waters has caused horrific destruction leaving a third of Bosnia and Herzegovina under water and has caused much pain and suffering across the region. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere condolences and extends deepest sympathies to the families as they mourn the absence of their loved ones who died in the worst flooding in the recorded history of Bosnia and Herzegovina and does hereby share in the grief and sorrow of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
