HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 45
BY REPRESENTATIVES LORUSSO, HENRY, AND LEGER
COMMENDATIONS: Commends Fr. Raymond Fitzgerald for his contributions to Jesuit
High School
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Father Raymond Fitzgerald, S.J., for his remarkable contributions to Jesuit2
High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, and to extend to him best wishes of the3
legislature for health and happiness in the future.4
WHEREAS, it appropriate that a sincere measure of commendation be expressed to5
Father Fitzgerald for his extraordinary dedication as president of Jesuit High School in New6
Orleans; and7
WHEREAS, Father Fitzgerald was born and raised in New Orleans and graduated8
from Jesuit High School in 1976 where he was active in the Christian Life Community, the9
Chess Club, and the Quiz Bowl Team; and10
WHEREAS, in the fall of 2011, Father Fitzgerald returned to his beloved alma mater11
as president of Jesuit High School; and12
WHEREAS, being president of Jesuit High School was a dream of Father Fitzgerald13
that he was able to fulfill; he will complete his term as president of Jesuit High School at the14
end of the 2013-2014 school year; and15
WHEREAS, Father Fitzgerald has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis16
and remains positive that he will continue to live each day with a sense of hope and strength;17
and18
WHEREAS, Father Fitzgerald has instilled in the faculty and students of Jesuit High19
School an enormous amount of joy and encouragement to succeed.20 HLS 14RS-1559 ORIGINAL

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the1
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Father Raymond Fitzgerald, S.J., upon the2
completion of his term as president of Jesuit High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, does3
hereby recognize his highly dedicated service over the past three years in this vital position,4
and does hereby wish him health and happiness in his future.5
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted6
to Father Raymond Fitzgerald, S.J.7
