ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 53 BY REPRESENTATIVE JEFFERSON A RESOLUTION To commend the Claiborne Academy Lady Rebels basketball team upon winning the 2014 MAIS Class A state championship. WHEREAS, the Claiborne Academy Lady Rebels basketball team completed a sensational season, earning the title of 2014 MAIS Class A state champions after defeating Veritas School by a score of 47-43 to win the thrilling state championship game on February 22, 2014; and WHEREAS, the Claiborne Academy Lady Rebels finished the stellar season with a 33-8 record; and WHEREAS, the Lady Rebels were led by senior, Madison Butler; juniors, Reagan Beard, Hannah Colvin, Millicent Butler, and Cassidy Roper; sophomores, Alle Furlow, Ashlyn Heckel, McCall Heckel, Madelyn Haynes, Jess Atkins, Cathryn Ellis, Maddie Cain, and Jonecia Malone; and freshmen, Lauryn Cain, Hallie Miller, and Katie Ingle; and WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence throughout the 2013-2014 season and playoffs, and each of these intrepid Lady Rebels deserves recognition for her vital contribution to the winning effort; and WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved without the guidance and skills of head coach Wade Heigle, as well as all of the other individuals who contributed to the success of the school's basketball program; and WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2013-2014 season upholds the glorious tradition of the Lady Rebels, and all Claiborne Academy alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state. ENROLLEDHR NO. 53 Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Claiborne Academy Lady Rebels basketball team upon winning the 2014 MAIS Class A state championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine basketball program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
