ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 54 BY REPRESENTATIVE JEFFERSON A RESOLUTION To commend the Haynesville High School football team upon winning the 2013 Class 1A state football championship game in the Louisiana Superdome in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association State Farm Prep Classic. WHEREAS, the Haynesville High School Golden Tornado won its sixteenth state championship with a 42-21 win over Mangham in the title game and it is appropriate to commend the players and coaches on this outstanding achievement; and WHEREAS, Haynesville's victory in the State Farm Prep Classic was the culmination of an unforgettable season during which the Golden Tornado defeated fourteen highly talented opponents on the road to the title; and WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved without the guidance and skills of head coach David Franklin, assistant coaches Alton "Red" Franklin, Tracey Jackson, Tony Gantt, Mario Thompson, Chris Baurer, Moise Critton, and Ladarius Buggs, as well as all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's football program; and WHEREAS, the Golden Tornado finished the season with a perfect 14-0 record and Haynesville's sixteen state titles rank second behind John Curtis, who has twenty-six, the most by any public school in the state; and WHEREAS, head coach David Franklin collected his second state championship along with his 116th career win; he became the second head coach to win two or more state titles at Haynesville as his father, Alton "Red" Franklin, won eleven state championships during his thirty-five year tenure with the Golden Tornado; and WHEREAS, the Golden Tornado finished undefeated in December for the second time under David Franklin; his record in December stands at 4-2 and Haynesville now holds a 3-0 series lead over Mangham; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 54 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2013 season upholds the glorious tradition of the Golden Tornado, and all Haynesville High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Haynesville High School football team upon winning the 2013 Class 1A state football championship game and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine football program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
