ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 65 BY REPRESENTATIVES SCHEXNAYDER AND PRI CE A RESOLUTION To commend the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team on winning the 2014 Division II Class 4A state championship. WHEREAS, on Friday, March 21, 2014, the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team capped a sensational season, earning the title of 2014 Division II Class 4A state powerlifting champions by scoring a commanding sixty-nine points at the Louisiana High School Powerlifting Association's state championship, twenty points more than the runner-up team; and WHEREAS, the Lady Bulldogs won eight of eleven weight classes on its way to the state powerlifting championship title which was the culmination of another unforgettable and extraordinary season for Lutcher; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Jasmine Davis, Denisha Melancon, Ja'Naija Miller, China Storks, Taylor Thomas, Ashley Tucker, Victoria Vicknair, and Destiny Walker for placing first as the best lifters in their respective weight groups, and to commend teammates Carli Lambert and Jacey Milton for their second place wins and Mallory Millet for her third place win in the competition; and WHEREAS, in addition to their first-place finishes, Denisha Melancon was named "Light Weight Best Lifter" with aggregate lifts of 895 pounds and China Storks was named "Heavy Weight Best Lifter" with a combined lifts total of 1,090 pounds; and WHEREAS, the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifters displayed impeccable skill and focus throughout the season and each of these young women deserves a special measure of commendation for her vital contribution to the exemplary success of the team; and WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved without the guidance and skill of Head Coach Kelly Magendie, along with all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's powerlifting program; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 65 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2014 season upholds the glorious tradition of the Lutcher High School athletics program, and Lutcher High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the 2013-2014 Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team upon winning the 2014 Division II Class 4A state powerlifting championship; does hereby record for posterity the immense pride that the team brings to the school, the town of Lutcher, and the state of Louisiana; and does hereby extend best wishes to the lifters, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine powerlifting program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Lutcher High School principal Dr. Daryl J.
