Regular Session, 2014 ENROLLED SENATE BILL NO. 112 BY SENATOR THOMPSON AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 38:2251(C)(3) and R.S. 39:1595(C)(3), relative to preferences2 for products produced or manufactured in Louisiana; to provide for a preference for3 certain meat and meat products processed in Louisiana; to provide for an effective4 date; and to provide for related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 38:2251(C)(3) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:7 §2251. Preference for products produced or manufactured in Louisiana; exceptions8 * * *9 C. In addition to the requirements listed in Subsection B of this Section, the10 following products shall meet the following specific requirements:11 * * *12 (3) Meat and meat products shall be processed in Louisiana from animals13 which are alive at the time they enter the processing plant that originated in14 Louisiana, as evidenced by traceability documentation supplied by the15 manufacturer.16 * * *17 Section 2. R.S. 39:1595(C)(3) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:18 §1595. Preference for all types of products produced, manufactured, assembled,19 grown, or harvested in Louisiana; exceptions20 * * *21 C. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not4 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature5 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
