AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 14:32.1(C), relative to the crime of vehicular homicide; to provide relative to2
penalties when multiple deaths are involved in the offense; to provide for sentences3
to be served consecutively; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 14:32.1(C) is hereby enacted to read as follows:6

C. Notwithstanding the provisions of Code of Criminal Procedure9
Article 883, if the offense for which the offender was convicted pursuant to the10
provisions of this Section proximately or directly causes the death of two or11
more human beings, the offender shall be sentenced separately for each victim,12
and such sentences shall run consecutively. In calculating the number of deaths13
for purposes of this Subsection, a human being includes an unborn child.14
Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not15
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature16
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If17
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become18
effective on the day following such approval.19
