AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 33:4690.13, relative to local governing authorities, the state and political2
subdivisions of the state; to provide additional notice to property owners of public3
works projects; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 33:4690.13 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง4690.13. Additional notice to certain property owners7
A.  Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, in addition to8
any notice required by law relative to a pending public works project by any9
parish or municipality, and at least ten days prior to the public hearing, a good10
faith attempt to notify the owner or owners of record of the property directly11
affected by the public works project may be made by sending an official notice12
by United States mail of the time and place of the public hearing and the general13
subject matter of the proposed public works project.14
B. In addition to any current provision of law regarding notice relative15
to a public hearing related to pending public works projects, the state and16
political subdivisions of the state may adopt policies to give additional notice to17
the owner of record of the property directly affected by the proposed public18
works project. The notice shall be made by sending an official notice by United19
States mail at least ten business days prior to the time and place of the public20
hearing and the general subject matter of the proposed public works project.21
