DIGEST Broome (SB 310) Proposed law requires all appointed members of a regional transit entity board to receive and complete at least six hours of training in the duties, responsibilities, ethics, and substance of the positions held or to be held, either prior to taking office or not later than one year after taking office. Requires that the training be developed by or through, and approved by, the governing authority of the parish in which the entity is domiciled. Provides that proposed law applies only to persons appointed to a board on or after January 1, 2015. Defines "board" as the board or commission which serves as the governing body of a regional transit entity. Defines "regional transit entity" to include each area public transit system and regional public transit authority which administers a public transit system within a metropolitan area that is created by law as a political subdivision of the state. Provides that failure of a member to receive and complete the training required by proposed law either prior to taking office or within the first year after the member takes office shall be cause for removal from the board.
