AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 56:325(B)(3) and (C) and to repeal Section 197(B), Chapter 1,2
Part VII of Title 76 of the Louisiana Administrative Code, relative to the possession3
limit for crappie in certain water bodies; to provide a fifty fish limit for crappie4
caught on Lake D'Arbonne; to authorize the department to change the crappie limit5
based on the results of certain sampling and data; to provide terms, conditions, and6
requirements; and to provide for related matters.7
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:8
Section 1.  R.S. 56:325(B)(3) and (C) are hereby amended and reenacted to read as9
follows: 10
ยง325. Daily take, possession, and size limits; freshwater recreational fish;11
possession of finfish filets prohibited12

(3) The possession limit for crappie caught in Toledo Bend Reservoir and in16
Lake D'Arbonne on a recreational license shall be one hundred fish.17
C. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the18
commission may amend by rule, in accordance with the Administrative Procedure19
Act, size limits, daily take limits, possession limits, seasons, and times set by law for20
freshwater recreational fish. Such limits, seasons, and times may vary between and21
among waterbodies based on biological data or for purposes of research or22
experimentation. However, the commission shall not amend by rule the provisions23
of Paragraph (A)(5) of this Section as it applies to Lake D'Arbonne and Paragraph24
(B)(3) of this Section, unless the department first conducts sampling, and collects25
and analyzes the data on the fisheries resource in Lake D'Arbonne and the26

sampling, data, and analysis demonstrate that the fisheries resource is being1
negatively impacted, and the department recommends that the provisions of2
Paragraph (A)(5) of this Section be amended by rule.3

Section 2. Section 197(B), Chapter 1, Part VII of Title 76 of the Louisiana5
Administrative Code is hereby repealed as of the effective date of this Act.6
