Present law creates the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board, whose
duty it shall be to administer the provisions of this Chapter. The board shall consist of eleven
members, nine of whom shall be licensed professional engineers, and two of whom shall be
licensed professional land surveyors.
Proposed law retains present law but increases the number of members from 11 to 13 and
increases the number of licenced professional land surveyors 	from nine to 10. 
Present law provides that the governor shall appoint members to the board from among licensed
professional engineering nominees recommended by the Louisiana Engineering Society or its
duly recognized successor, and from licensed professional land surveyor nominees recommended
by the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors or its duly recognized successor.
Proposed law retains present law but specifies that the governor shall appoint nine members to
the board from among licensed professional engineering nominees recommended by the
Louisiana Engineering Society, one from among licensed professional engineering nominees
recommended by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Louisiana, and three from
licensed professional land surveyor nominees recommended by the Louisiana Society of
Professional Surveyors or its duly recognized successor.
Present law requires that at least five nominations shall be made for each appointment required.
Proposed law decreases the number of nominations required from five to three. 
Present law provides for nominations following the death, resignation, or removal of a member
of the board.
Proposed law specifies that the American Council of Engineering Companies of Louisiana, shall
make the nominations of its representative members.
Effective August 1, 2014.
