AN ACT1
To amend and reenact the introductory paragraph of R.S. 17:3051, relative to the Health2
Education Authority of Louisiana; to provide for a statement of purpose and3
function; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 17:3051 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6
CHAPTER 21. HEALTH EDUCATION AUTHORITY OF LOUISIANA7
ยง3051. Statement of purpose and function8
In order to promote the medical and/or health educational activities of various9
public and private institutions and organizations in the state of Louisiana and to10
promote health and welfare of its citizens through encouraging and assisting in the11
provision of medical care and the prompt and efficient health and health related12
services at reasonable cost by public and private institutions and organizations in13
modern, well-equipped facilities, and to strive to achieve superlative standards of14
attainment in health care and education that will place Louisiana in the position of15
regional, national, and international leadership in those fields, it is hereby declared16
to be in the public interest of the state of Louisiana that the Health Education17 SB NO. 429

Authority of Louisiana be created within the Department of Health and Hospitals.1
The purposes and functions of the authority are:2
