MEDICAID. Provides for certain requirements regarding a Medicaid managed care
program. (8/1/14)
AN ACT1
To enact Subpart C of Part XIII of Chapter 3 of Title 46 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes2
of 1950, to be comprised of R.S. 46:460.81, relative to Medicaid; to provide for3
primary care case management; to provide for definitions; and to provide for related4
matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. Subpart C of Part XIII of Chapter 3 of Title 46 of the Louisiana Revised7
Statutes of 1950, comprised of R.S. 46:460.81, is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8
SUBPART C. PRIMARY CARE CASE MANAGEMENT9
ยง460.81. Primary care case management; definitions10
A. The department shall maintain a primary care case management11
program as long as the department maintains a Medicaid managed care12
program which also provides services to Medicaid enrollees through the use of13
managed care organizations. All primary care case management options shall14
be offered to a Medicaid enrollee at any time a Medicaid enrollee is allowed to15
enroll in the Medicaid managed care program.16

program" and "managed care organization" shall have the same definitions as1

Proposed law provides the Department of Health and Hospitals shall maintain a primary care
case management program as long as the department maintains a Medicaid managed care
program which also provides services to Medicaid enrollees through the use of managed care
organizations.
Proposed law provides all primary care case management options shall be offered to a
Medicaid enrollee at any time a Medicaid enrollee is allowed to enroll in the Medicaid
managed care program.
Proposed law defines "primary care case management program" and "managed care
organization" to mean it shall have the same definition as it is defined by 42 C.F.R. 438.2.
Effective August 1, 2014.
