SENATE BILL NO. 540
BY SENATOR MILLS 
COURTS.  Authorizes the constable's office of Ward 3 of St. Martin Parish to charge a
"stand by" fee in certain instances. (8/1/14)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 13:2622, relative to the constables in St. Martin Parish; to authorize the2
governing authority to establish a fee; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1.  R.S. 13:2622 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 5
ยง2622.  St. Martin Parish constables; fee6
Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, if authorized by7
ordinance of the St. Martin parish governing authority, the office of the8
constable may charge a fee of thirty dollars per hour for peace keeping or9
mediation services and general duties of his office as specified in the ordinance.10
Any and all fees generated by such services shall be used toward expenses of the11
constable's office.12
