SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 116

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend and congratulate William "Tucker" Smith on being awarded the Tiger Athletic
Foundation University College Sophomore Award.
WHEREAS, on April 1, 2014, Louisiana State University College held its annual
"Celebration of Excellence" Spring Awards program and awarded $64,000 through fifty-five
scholarships, ten LSU faculty teaching awards, and one LSU Advisor of the Year Award;
and
WHEREAS, since 1933 LSU University College has served as the portal of entry for
students enrolled at LSU and providing a foundation of support services for students
beginning their academic careers at LSU, including academic support programs which focus
on particular student populations and are a significant part of the role and mission of
University College; and
WHEREAS, the Tiger Athletic Foundation University College Sophomore Award
is provided through the support of the Tiger Athletic Foundation and is awarded to a
full-time student enrolled in University College at LSU having completed a minimum of
thirty hours of college level work and earned a 3.5 or higher GPA; and
WHEREAS, William "Tucker" Smith was awarded the Tiger Athletic Foundation
University College Sophomore Award at the Celebration of Excellence; and
WHEREAS, he is a sophomore majoring in Business Administration with a 4.0 GPA,
is the son of William and Kelly Smith, and is a graduate of Cedar Creek School in Ruston,
Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, William "Tucker" Smith merits the utmost respect for the exemplary
strides he has taken in his pursuit of academic excellence, and for the tremendous honor and
pride that he brings to his family, friends, community, and the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana hereby
commends and congratulates William "Tucker" Smith on being awarded the Tiger Athletic
Foundation University College Sophomore Award. SCR NO. 116 ENROLLED

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
William "Tucker" Smith.
