SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 119
BY SENATORS GAL LOT, LONG, KOSTEL KA AND RISER AND
REPRESENTATIVES DIXON, HARRIS AND HAZEL 
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce on its one hundredth
anniversary.
WHEREAS, two hundred fifty business and professional leaders met at the Hotel
Bentley on March 30, 1914, to form the Alexandria, Louisiana, Chamber of Commerce, with
three hundred members joining that evening; and
WHEREAS, the first board of directors of the chamber was named on April 6, 1914,
followed by the election of the first chamber board chairman W.D. Haas, M.D.; and
WHEREAS, a goal was set in 1914 of attracting one thousand members, a milestone
that was accomplished in November 2013; and
WHEREAS, the Pineville Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1951; and
WHEREAS, the Alexandria and Pineville Chambers merged in 1956 to form the
Chamber of Commerce of the Alexandria-Pineville area; and
WHEREAS, the name of the organization was changed to the Central Louisiana
Chamber of Commerce in 1986 to reflect a regional approach to economic development; and
WHEREAS, over the last century, the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce has
promoted the cause of free enterprise and entrepreneurship; and
WHEREAS, the chamber is an effective advocate for business and industry in
Alexandria, Pineville, and central Louisiana and delivers innovative programming and
services; and
WHEREAS, the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce continues to be an
influential, vital, dynamic force in the region, working to create the preferred community to
live and conduct business; and SCR NO. 119	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, the one hundredth anniversary of the Central Louisiana Chamber of
Commerce provides an opportunity to honor ninety-six past board chairmen, one hundred
boards of directors, hundreds of chamber staff, and countless elected and community
partners who contributed to the success of the organization.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce on its one
hundredth anniversary.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby extend
best wishes to the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce as it prepares for continued
success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce.
