COMMENDATIONS. Commends Shane Hanchey on becoming the Tie-Down Roping
World Champion at the 2013 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend Shane Hanchey of Sulphur on becoming the Tie-Down Roping World2
Champion at the 2013 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.3
WHEREAS, the National Finals Rodeo, organized by the Professional Rodeo4
Cowboys Association and sponsored by Wrangler Jeans, is the premier championship rodeo5
event in the United States; and6
WHEREAS, the National Finals Rodeo showcases the talents of the nation's top7
fifteen money-winners in each event as they compete for the world title; and8
WHEREAS, Shane Hanchey of Sulphur became the Tie-Down Roping World9
Champion in Las Vegas at the 2013 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in December where he10
was awarded his first gold buckle; and11
WHEREAS, entering the tenth and final round of the rodeo, Shane was in tenth place12
in the tie-down roping and more than sixty-two thousand dollars behind the leader; and13
WHEREAS, during that round, Shane won the average and climbed to the top of the14
standings; and15
WHEREAS, he won one hundred thirty-four thousand seven hundred sixty-six16
dollars and broke Cody Ohl's record of one hundred thirty-two thousand six hundred fifty-17

WHEREAS, during the competition, he had a time of 80.10 seconds on 10 head; and1
WHEREAS, it is only appropriate that a special measure of commendation be2
extended to Shane Hanchey as he is recognized with the utmost admiration and respect by3
the Louisiana Legislature for his accomplishments on the professional rodeo circuit.4
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby5
commend and congratulate Shane Hanchey for his outstanding accomplishments, does6
hereby express enduring appreciation to him for the tremendous pride, honor, and joy he7
brings to his family, friends, community, and the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend8
to him every good wish for continued success and happiness in the future.9
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to10
Shane Hanchey.11
